Winter Guard

The Anderson High School Winterguard

FlagsWelcome to the Anderson Winterguard Webpage.

What is Winterguard?

Winterguard is a competitive extension of the marching band color guard experience.  Often called the “sport of the arts,” Winterguard is one of the fastest growing activities in today’s high schools.  Bringing music to life in a competitive format, Winterguard is a high energy sport that requires skill in performance and visual arts, including dance, gymnastics, acrobatics, theater and equipment expertise.  Winterguards perform challenging choreography using equipment including flags, rifles, sabers and other props.  Unlike marching season, Winterguard music is recorded so 100% focus is on the performance of the Guard.  The Anderson Winterguard provides performance opportunities at competitions throughout the state from early November through late March.

The Anderson High School Winterguard competes in the Scholastic A division of the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC).  http://www.texascolorguardcircuit.org/
