Greetings!

I feel like every week I have great news to report…and it’s been a full week!  Sometimes this time of year is even busier than the football season for the band.  I want to start by saying a HUGE congratulations to the Jazz Band and the Winter Guard!  The Jazz Band traveled to Texas State Jazz Festival performing Poltergeist, Computer, and Broken Promise.  It was a high energy performance, and I will advertise their ratings tomorrow as soon as we see them!  In the evening, the Winter guard traveled to their first competition of the season at Canyon High School in New Braunfels.  Their performance was absolutely breathtaking and earned them first place in their bracket, the Scholastic Regional A in the Texas Color Guard Competition circuit.  Following them in second place was Brandeis and third place Cedar Park.  CONGRATULATIONS to the guard and Jazz Band on a strong start to the season!

We welcomed another great guest clinician to Anderson this week visiting the concert band, Jeremy Spicer.  Mr. Spicer was the Head Director that ran the Vandegrift Band from opening to the year they placed at state marching contest, and owns and leads the SASI leadership camps.  It was fantastic to have his energy and expertise in the Anderson Band Hall!

Next week, we will welcome Mr. Ryan Johnstone from Rouse High School to work with Symphonic Band in their evening rehearsal from 4:45-6pm on Monday.

Reminder:  Wind Ensemble has a Monday evening rehearsal in lieu of sectionals this week due to TMEA (please see the semester sectional schedule.  Rehearsal 5-6:30.
