Greetings!
We are one week away from Spring Break! Looking forward to a productive week ahead of us. As I write this, the winter guard just heard their announcement for retreat at the Leander competition. They received 5th place in their new class – CONGRATS to the winter guard and wishing them all the best as they push on to the end of their season!
If you want to support our hard working students that perform in outside groups, there are two performances this weekend, Sunday (March 5) to check out! Mary White will perform with the Austin Youth Orchestra at S.F Austin High School at 3pm and Jonathan Churchett performs with the Texas Youth Wind Symphony at UT Bates Recital Hall at 4pm. Best of luck!! An additional amazing concert to check out Sunday night is the UT Wind Ensemble performing newly composed works by Adam Schoenberg and Jennifer Jolley at 7pm at Bass Concert Hall. With all the wet weather it’s a great time to catch a concert or two!
URGENT CALL FOR HELP!!! We are still in need of a few parent volunteers to help us as we host UIL for the middle school bands this week! We need parent assistance Tuesday and Wednesday throughout the day in the sight reading room as well as hosting bands. If you can work a few hours that is great! Below is a bit of a long-range outlook. This time of year flies!
Monday (3/6). Full band rehearsals after school Monday for Wind Ensemble and Symphonic instead of split sectionals. Normal sectionals for concert band.
Tuesday (3/7) Anderson Band hosts middle school UIL at the PAC
SPRING BREAK!
Monday (3/20) Wind Ensemble clinic with Chico Portillo 5-6:30 instead of split sectionals
Tuesday (3/21) Pre-UIL Festival at the AISD PAC – all three bands will perform in the middle of the day for judges. Separate blast will come out with the schedule.
Wednesday (3/22) Pre-UIL evening Concert at Anderson High School. 7pm
Thursday (3/23) Anderson Solo Competition for Solo and Ensemble finalists!
April 4 and 5 – UIL Concert and Sight Reading at the Austin ISD PAC
April 11 – Percussion Concert
April 18-20 Marching Show REVEAL and Spring Marching Camp 5-7pm
April 25 Anderson City Limits
