Game Night Information for Parents Going to the Game

PARKING AT HOUSE PARK: In the past ACC has NOT let us park in their garage on Thursdays. It is usually OK on Fridays after 6:00. The stadium lot fills up quickly. Count on parking in a neighborhood and walking.

TICKET PRICES: $6 for adults and $3 for students, cash only. Tickets can be purchased at the gate of the stadium or in the cafeteria on game day.

CONCESSIONS: Items include hot dogs, popcorn, and drinks. You may not bring food or coolers in the stadium.

Make way for the band’s trailer! Parents, as you arrive to pick up your student after games, please take care not to park /wait in the areas that are not designated as parking spaces. Our trucks and drivers have to pull into the lot, drive around the lot and back up the semi. It is especially important not to block the driveway in front of the loading dock and band hall/fine arts wing entrances. Cars and people that are in the way affect their progress and how safely and quickly we can get unloaded.

Know that contest performance times can be any time of the day, from early morning to later in the evening. Some contests are “march once and you are done, wait for scores” while others are held as a “preliminary contest, and hope you make the finals, then get to march again” type of contest.

MEALS: There ‘could be’ a meal or snack thrown in here, depends upon time and length of day.  We don’t pre-order meals for some of the contests, since we don’t know what time we will perform. IF the students need a meal, it will be announced via the website, the yahoo news and the Facebook announcements in plenty of time for you to arrange something if ABBA is not taking care of it. (Often ABBA Catering will take care of providing these extra meals, and if funds are needed for that the students will be told and you will hear that information through all of our regular communication channels)

Usually, we don’t know the time the Band will perform/compete until a week prior to Contest. All the steps leading up to Step-Off take 2-4 hours, plus drive time. So as soon as we know a contest time, then the rehearsal/meal/arrival/departure/dismissal times can be determined and announced.

If you know you have a conflict that day – please tell directors ASAP – they can often help you figure out if you can “do it all” that day or not!
